Trewidland Primary School has been accredited with Wild Tribe status.
The school's Wild Tribe Leaders have delivered two six week blocks of sessions in their new outdoor "Wild Tribe" area, taking the children in KS1 and KS2 on a journey through the Amazon rainforest as part of their school rainforest topic.
Children have developed skills in fire lighting and management, shelter building and using knives for whittling sticks to toast a marshmallow or two! Both children and staff alike have seen the benefits of the outdoor classroom, and are planning on embedding Wild Tribe practice throughout the school curriculum.
Wild Tribes - A Guide for Parents
Children will need to wear their Wild Tribe gear included below, to school, and bring along their wellies etc.
- Leggings/loose fitting trousers
- Long sleeved top
- Waterproof trousers
- Waterproof coat
- Hat and gloves
- Additional layers of clothing for the colder weather
- A bin bag to put muddy things in
We will be going out in all weathers as much as possible. Please do ensure that your child has the appropriate clothing and footwear and, remembers to wear their kit every week as it can eat into lesson time having to find kit for children to borrow and we are very limited as to what we have to lend.
